// FAQ

What is the training program structure?

Our training programs are built around a continuous 4-step cycle designed to keep you progressing efficiently without burnout:

 1. Initial Assessment: We start with an evaluation of your current fitness level, technique, and primary race or paddling goals (from beginners to competitive racers).

 2. Customized Weekly Programming: You’ll receive a structured, adaptable workout plan tailored to your available time, covering endurance, speed intervals, and recovery.

3. Progress Tracking & Check-Ins: Every two weeks, we hop on a 20-minute consultation to review your performance data, discuss how you feel on the water, and refine your approach.

4. Ongoing Adjustments & Support: Your plan adapts in real-time based on your progress, energy levels, or schedule changes—plus, you have direct email and text access anytime you need quick advice between sessions.

Do I need prior experience?

No experience is necessary.

Our programs are designed for all experience and fitness levels—from complete beginners getting into the sport to advanced endurance athletes.

Baseline Medical Health: You should be cleared by a doctor for general aerobic exercise and comfortable being in and around the water.

Scalable Intensity: Workouts are tailored specifically to your current baseline, so you don't need to be in peak shape to start. Volume and intensity scale up safely as your endurance builds.
Adaptable to Your Goals: Whether you're training to build basic core strength and paddling efficiency or prepping for an ultra-marathon, the physical load is customized entirely to what your body can handle.

If your not a strong swimmer a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD) must be worn at all times.

What physical requirements are there?

Getting started is simple:

Step 1: Reach Out directly: Send an email to IssendorfCanoeandkayak@gmail.com with a brief summary of your paddling background and primary goals.

Step 2: Set Up Your Free Consultation: We’ll schedule your complimentary 30-minute introductory call to talk through your current setup and target events.

Step 3: Dial In Your Strategy: We'll outline the best training approach for you—whether that's on-water technique coaching or a customized monthly plan—and get you moving faster on the water.

How do I get started?

You will need to provide your own paddling gear and personal essentials for all in-person sessions and training plans.

Paddles & Craft: Bring your own canoe or kayak and the paddle(s) you regularly use.
Personal Safety Gear: A properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved Life Jacket / PFD is required for all on-water sessions.

Hydration & Fuel: Bring plenty of water (or electrolytes) and quick-energy snacks to stay properly hydrated and fueled during training.

Appropriate Attire: Water-friendly footwear (paddling boots, neoprene booties, or river shoes) and weather-appropriate performance clothing.

Training Extras (Optional): A heart rate monitor, GPS watch, or paddling computer if you want to integrate real-time workout tracking into your plan.
